I think at this point among the OSRS gold one thing they could do about bots and gold sellers would be to ban the gold buyers. These buyers are the only reason why they exist and unlike bot farms they invest time in their personality and will not wish to take any greater danger.
The main reason is that Jagex does not allocate almost enough resources into botbusting and anti-cheating. It's ridiculous to even hope to get a handful of people, like 3 or 4, to catch any significant amount of rulebreaking.Archeage did that to gold buyers. Gold will be removed and any items bought with the gold will be as well.
Unfortunately they did those things because they wanted to have the gold buyers go through the in game cash shop.
That I think the biggest turn off for new players would be the scamming and phishing that is so rampant in this particular community, It's dreadful and sad. I'm an experienced participant and I think that it's unacceptable that jagex allows this crap to continue going.
And of course that the amount of friends who've been cleaned for billons in the arena and then try to scam me or other with loans in an attempt to Buy Runescape gold make it back. This game needs to be seriously cleaned up before a steam release differently rip new participant sticking around for long after becoming lured to their lender.
